Ben's WX Summary
- Updated: Thursday @ 10:30pm
Experience a soggy start to our New Year as low pressure over the state pulled moisture north across the area with most areas receiving 1/2-1" inch of rain with 3-4 inches near the dam westward. This storm will exit the region through Friday for partly cloudy skies. Expect a cool and breezy finish to the week with highs in the 40s, southwest winds 5-15 mph We'll get a short break in the action on Friday, a chance to dry out between storms with more unsettled weather arriving over the weekend. Clouds and winds will once again increase Friday night with showers and thunderstorms likely over the weekend. This next storm will be a little colder, pushing the snow level down around 8,000 feet, possibly dropping to near 7,000 feet late Sunday. So we could start to see some snowfall at least at resort levels. This deep trough along the West Coast will send additional storms through the region next week, with rain and snow showers continuing. The snow level should also gradually lower, finally getting down around 6,000 feet east next week! Additional rainfall amounts of around an inch are possible through the weekend, with more rain and snow expected throughout next week. If you have travel plans into the mountains, be prepared for winter weather driving conditions and always carry chains!
