Ben's WX Summary
- Updated: Thursday @ 10:32am
High pressure over the area will strengthen through the end of the week, leading to hot and dry conditions with temperatures running 10 degrees above-average for a couple more days. The ridge overhead will keep a cap on any thunderstorm development for now, but as it shifts east towards the Four Corners region this weekend, we'll experience increasing humidity and cooler temperatures. Today will likley be our warmest day of the week with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. We will also begin to see some mid and upper-level moisture trickle into the region, bringing some afternoon clouds, but dry into the first half of the weekend. By Sunday, this ridge will be positioned near the Four Corners, allowing a southeast flow to draw monsoon moisture into the region. This may generate an afternoon shower or thunderstorm beginning, before deeper moisture arrives early next week, elevating the risk for afternoon storms, primarily over the mountains and deserts. The monsoon flow should become well established over the region next week, with showers and thunderstorms possible at times. This time of year, the flow tends to ebb and flow with afternoon convection varying in coverage and intensity from day to day; be prepared if you have any outdoor activites planned and stay cool out there!
