About This City

Big Bear Lake is a small city in Southern California. It sits on the banks of fish-filled Big Bear Lake. It's known for Big Bear Mountain Resorts (Snow Summit & Bear Mountain), with its terrain parks, learner slopes and family-friendly Snow Summit resorts. Boutiques, gift shops and restaurants line the streets of Big Bear Lake Village, the commercial area. Surrounding the city, the rugged San Bernardino National Forest has mountain trails, also great for hiking, biking, horseback riding and exploring!

Big Bear Lake's average rainfall is 20.50", with an average snowfall of 72"; some of the higher peaks around the valley and up at resort level can pick up closer to 100 inches of snow per season.
The seasonal average high if 67º with a low of 32 º, though temperatures can vary day to day, sometimes by as much as 50-degrees, with July typically the hottest month of the year with some areas in the Big Bear Valley reaching to around 90-degrees.

The San Bernardino Mountains is also one of the only mountain ranges in America with an east-west orientation, which makes for a wide array of weather conditions and micro climates. In some occasions, one end of the Valley may experience clear blue skies, with strong thunderstorms and flash flooding in other areas.
